Understanding the Data Exchange Center

What Is the Data Exchange Center?

The Data Exchange Center is the main hub for all import and export operations in AccuArk. It presents all 15 supported data types as individual cards, each with its own Import and Export buttons. From this single screen, you can access import or export for any data type.

How to Open the Data Exchange Center

To open the Data Exchange Center:

  1. From the main AccuArk menu bar, click Business
  2. Click Data Exchange

The Data Exchange Center opens as a window within AccuArk.

The Card Layout

Each data type is represented by a card. Every card shows:

  • Title — The name of the data type (e.g., "Inventory Items", "Customers")
  • Description — A brief explanation of what the data type includes
  • Tier Badge — Indicates whether the data type is Day 1, First Week, or Nice to Have
  • Import Button — Opens the import wizard for that data type
  • Export Button — Opens the export wizard for that data type

Some data types only support import. For example, Opening Balances can only be imported, not exported, so the Export button is hidden on that card.

Understanding Tiers

The tier badges help you prioritize which data to import first:

TierBadgeMeaning
Day 1GreenEssential for opening your business on AccuArk
First WeekBlueNeeded for financials and full operations
Nice to HaveGraySaves time but not critical for getting started

Permission-Based Access

Not all users can access every data type. Each card respects the permissions assigned to your user role:

  • If you have permission for a data type, the card appears with active Import and Export buttons
  • If you do not have permission, the card appears grayed out and the buttons are disabled

Your administrator manages these permissions. If you need access to a data type that is currently grayed out, ask your administrator to assign the appropriate permission to your role.

Launching an Import

To start importing data:

  1. Locate the card for the data type you want to import
  2. Click the Import button on that card
  3. The Data Exchange Wizard opens in import mode

Launching an Export

To start exporting data:

  1. Locate the card for the data type you want to export
  2. Click the Export button on that card
  3. The Data Exchange Wizard opens in export mode

Tips

  • Start with exports — Before your first import, export each data type you plan to import. This gives you a template CSV file with the correct column headers. Even if the export is empty (no data yet), the file contains the headers you need.
  • Follow the tier order — Import Tier 1 data first, then Tier 2, then Tier 3. This ensures that dependent data (like categories for inventory items) is already in the system when you import items that reference it.
  • One data type at a time — You can only run one import or export operation at a time. Complete the current operation before starting another.
