Advanced Time Clock Configuration

Advanced Time Clock Configuration

Once you have the basic time clock running, AccuArk offers several advanced settings to handle overtime, automatic breaks, and compliance requirements. All of these are found under Time Clock → Settings on the Advanced tab.

Automatic Breaks

Automatic break deductions ensure compliance with labor laws that require meal or rest periods. You can configure two thresholds:

  • First auto-break — When a shift exceeds a set duration (default: 360 minutes / 6 hours), AccuArk automatically deducts a break (default: 30 minutes).
  • Second auto-break — For longer shifts that exceed a second threshold, an additional break is deducted.

These deductions appear on the timecard so employees and managers can see exactly what was applied.

Overtime Rules

AccuArk supports both daily and weekly overtime calculations:

  • Daily OT threshold — Minutes worked in a single day before overtime begins. The default is 480 minutes (8 hours).
  • Weekly OT threshold — Total minutes in a workweek before overtime kicks in. The default is 2400 minutes (40 hours).
  • OT multiplier — The rate multiplier applied to overtime hours. The default is 1.5x and can be overridden on a per-employee basis from the employee's profile.

Double-Time

For businesses that pay double-time rates, AccuArk provides a separate toggle:

  • Enable double-time — Turn this on or off depending on your policy.
  • Double-time threshold — The number of hours in a single day after which double-time applies (e.g., 12 hours/day).
  • Double-time rate — Defaults to 2.0x the employee's base rate.

When enabled, hours beyond the double-time threshold are calculated at the double-time rate instead of the standard OT rate.

Workweek Start Day

The workweek start day determines when the weekly overtime counter resets. The default is Monday. Setting this correctly is critical for accurate weekly overtime calculations. For example, if your business runs Sunday through Saturday, set the start day to Sunday so that weekly hours accumulate within the correct seven-day window.

Require Approval

Enable the Require Approval flag to prevent timecards from being finalized until a manager reviews and approves them. This adds an extra layer of oversight before payroll processing.

Tips

  • Always check your local labor laws before configuring auto-break and overtime thresholds. Requirements vary by jurisdiction.
  • Test your settings at one location first before rolling them out company-wide.
  • Review the overtime multiplier on individual employee profiles if certain roles have different contractual rates.
