How to Set Up the Time Clock
AccuArk's time clock is configured on a per-location basis, giving you the flexibility to enforce different policies at each site. To access the settings, navigate to Time Clock → Settings and select the location you want to configure.
Core Settings
The settings table contains four toggles that control how employees interact with the time clock:
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Require Clock In on Login | Off | Prompts employees to clock in each time they log in to AccuArk |
| Force Clock In | Off | Prevents employees from using the system until they clock in |
| Prompt Clock Out on Logout | Off | Reminds employees to clock out when they log out |
| Allow PIN-Based Clocking | Off | Lets employees clock in and out using a numeric PIN at a shared kiosk |
Grace Period
The grace period defines how many minutes before or after a scheduled shift an employee can clock in without being flagged as early or late. The default is 5 minutes. For example, if a shift starts at 9:00 AM and the grace period is 5 minutes, an employee who clocks in at 8:56 AM or 9:04 AM will not be flagged.
Rounding Rules
Rounding adjusts raw clock-in and clock-out times to clean intervals. You configure three values:
- Direction — choose Nearest, Up, or Down
- Interval — the number of minutes to round to (e.g., 5, 10, 15)
For example, with a 15-minute interval set to Nearest, a clock-in at 8:53 AM rounds to 9:00 AM, while 8:52 AM rounds to 8:45 AM.
Auto Clock-Out Timer
The auto clock-out timer automatically ends an employee's shift after a set number of minutes if they forget to clock out. This prevents inflated hours from appearing on timecards.
Getting Started
For most businesses, we recommend starting with these settings:
- Enable Require Clock In on Login
- Enable Prompt Clock Out on Logout
- Set the grace period to 5 minutes
- Set the auto clock-out timer to 720 minutes (12 hours)
This combination ensures employees are reminded to track their time without being overly restrictive. You can fine-tune rounding rules and other options once your team is comfortable with the basics.
