How to Update Your Contact and Emergency Information

How to Update Your Contact and Emergency Information

Keeping your contact details and emergency contacts up to date is important for workplace communication and safety compliance. AccuArk makes it easy to manage this information yourself through the My Profile portal. This guide covers how to edit your contact information and add or update emergency contacts.

Opening My Profile

From the main menu bar, go to Program > My Profile. The portal opens on the Personal Info tab, which is where both your contact information and emergency contacts are located.

Updating Your Contact Information

Your current contact details are displayed in the Contact Information section of the Personal Info tab. To make changes:

  1. Click the Edit Contact Info button
  2. The following fields become editable:
    • Phone — Your primary phone number
    • Mobile — Your mobile or cell phone number
    • Fax — Your fax number (if applicable)
    • Email — Your email address
    • Street Address — Your street address
    • City — Your city
    • State — Your state or province
    • Zip — Your postal or zip code
  3. Update the fields that need changing
  4. Click Save to apply your changes

Changes take effect immediately. Your updated information will be visible to managers and administrators right away.

Managing Emergency Contacts

The Emergency Contacts section is located at the bottom of the Personal Info tab. Here you can add new contacts, edit existing ones, or remove contacts that are no longer appropriate.

Adding a New Emergency Contact

Click the Add Emergency Contact button to open the emergency contact form. Fill in the following fields:

  • First Name — The contact's first name
  • Last Name — The contact's last name
  • Relationship — Select from the dropdown: Spouse, Parent, Child, Sibling, Grandparent, Friend, Neighbor, Doctor, Legal Guardian, Coworker, or Other
  • Phone — The contact's primary phone number
  • Alternate Phone — A secondary phone number
  • Email — The contact's email address
  • Address — The contact's mailing address

Click Save to add the contact to your profile.

Primary vs. Secondary Contacts

The first emergency contact you add is automatically marked as your primary contact. This is the person your employer will attempt to reach first in an emergency. Any additional contacts are considered secondary and will be contacted if the primary person is unavailable.

Editing an Emergency Contact

To update an existing emergency contact, click the Edit button next to that contact's entry. The same form opens with the current values pre-filled. Make your changes and click Save.

Deleting an Emergency Contact

If allowed by your company's policy, you can remove an emergency contact by clicking the Delete button next to the contact entry. You will be asked to confirm before the contact is removed. Note that some organizations require a minimum number of emergency contacts on file, so deletion may be restricted.

Why Emergency Contacts Matter

Emergency contact information is a critical part of workplace safety compliance. Many local labor laws require employers to have emergency contact details on file for every employee. In the event of a workplace accident, medical emergency, or natural disaster, your employer needs to be able to reach someone on your behalf quickly.

Tips

  • Add at least two emergency contacts — If your primary contact is unreachable, a secondary contact ensures someone can still be notified
  • Keep phone numbers current — Update your emergency contacts whenever they change their phone number or address
  • Inform your contacts — Let the people you list know that they are designated as your emergency contacts so they are prepared if they receive a call
  • Review periodically — Check your emergency contacts every few months to make sure the information is still accurate
