Exporting Inventory Items

Exporting Inventory Items

How to Export

  1. Open the Data Exchange Center from the Business menu
  2. Click Export on the Inventory Items card
  3. Select the Location you want to export inventory for
  4. The wizard shows how many items are available (e.g., "Ready to export 1,247 Inventory Items records")
  5. Click Export to CSV
  6. Choose a save location and filename, then click Save

What Gets Exported

The exported CSV file contains one row per item with the following columns:

ColumnDescription
nameThe item name
skuThe item SKU or product code
barcodeUPC, EAN, or other barcode value
categoryThe category name the item belongs to
classThe class or classification name
priceThe selling price
costThe purchase cost
stockCurrent stock quantity at the selected location
descriptionItem description
modelModel number
unitUnit of measure (e.g., "ea", "lb", "box")
weightItem weight
tax_typeTax type code
track_stockWhether stock tracking is enabled (true/false)
notesItem notes

Location Filtering

Because inventory stock varies by location, the export is filtered by the location you select. The stock column shows the quantity at that specific location. If you need stock for all locations, run separate exports for each location.

Using the Export as a Template

If you have no inventory items yet, the export creates a CSV file with only the column headers. This is your import template — open it in Excel, fill in your data, and import it.

Bulk Editing

To make bulk changes to your inventory:

  1. Export your inventory items
  2. Open the CSV in Excel
  3. Make your changes (update prices, add items, fix descriptions)
  4. Save as CSV
  5. Import the file back — existing items are updated by SKU, new items are inserted

This is the fastest way to update prices across your entire catalog or add a batch of new products.
