FAQ: How do I replace the hardware for an existing POS register?

Quick Answer

You do not need to create a new machine. Simply reassign the existing machine to the new hardware:

  1. Install AccuArk on the new computer
  2. Log in and go to Program → Machine Configuration
  3. Use Menu → Open to find the existing machine in the list
  4. Click Menu → Set as This Machine
  5. Confirm the replacement
  6. When asked about the old machine, choose:
    • Yes to deactivate it (since the old hardware is being retired)
    • No to keep it active (if the old computer will still be used as a different register)

What This Preserves

  • All machine settings (payment methods, receipt format, display options)
  • All historical data (sales, shifts, activity logs)
  • The machine's subscription slot (no additional license needed)

What Changes

  • The machine's hardware fingerprint is updated to match the new computer
  • If you deactivated the old machine entry, it can be reactivated later if the old hardware returns to service
