How to Configure Location Notification Settings
The Notifications tab lets you control how the notification system behaves at a specific location. You can enable or disable notification categories, set minimum urgency levels, and override individual user preferences.
Permission Required
You must have the NOTIF_MANAGE_LOCATION permission to see and edit this tab. If you do not have this permission, the Notifications tab will not appear on the Location form.
Opening the Notifications Tab
- Open the location for editing
- Click the Notifications tab
Master Toggle
At the top of the tab is the "Notifications Enabled" checkbox (bold text). When unchecked, all notification settings below are disabled and no notifications are processed at this location.
General Settings
| Setting | Range | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refresh Interval | 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes | — | How often the notification bell polls the server for new notifications at this location |
| Auto-Archive Days | 7–365 | 90 | Notifications older than this many days are automatically archived and removed from the active list |
| Max Dropdown Items | 5–50 | 10 | The maximum number of notifications shown in the notification bell dropdown menu |
Category Overrides
The category grid lets you control which notification types are active at this location. Each row represents a notification category or subcategory.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Category | The notification category name. Top-level categories appear in bold; subcategories are indented. |
| Enabled | Check to enable this category at the location, uncheck to disable it |
| Min Urgency | The minimum urgency level a notification must have to appear. Options: Low, Normal, High, Action Required |
| Override User Prefs | When checked, the location setting overrides the individual user's personal notification preference for this category |
| Type | Shows "System" for system categories (cannot be disabled) or "Always On" for mandatory categories |
Cascade Behavior
When you check or uncheck a top-level category, all of its subcategories automatically update to match. For example, unchecking "Sales" will also uncheck "Sales — Refunds", "Sales — Holds", etc.
System Categories
Categories marked as "System" cannot be disabled — their Enabled checkbox is locked. These are critical system notifications that must always be delivered.
Saving Notification Settings
Click the Save Notification Settings button on the Notifications tab.
Important: This is an independent save — the Notifications tab has its own Save button separate from the main Save & Close button on the Location form.
