Machine Settings: General Tab — Identity, Location, and Hardware
The General tab contains the machine's core identity, location assignment, hardware details, and several important operational settings.
Machine Name
Enter a descriptive name for this POS terminal (e.g., "Register 1", "Front Counter", "Drive-Through POS"). This name appears throughout the system in reports, shift check-ins, and the machine list.
Machine ID
The Machine ID is shown in the toolbar area. It is a system-assigned number that uniquely identifies this machine. It is read-only and cannot be changed.
Location Assignment
Select the location (store) where this machine is physically located using the Location dropdown. This dropdown shows all active locations in the system.
Important: Changing a machine's location is a significant action:
- The machine's available tax rates are updated to match the new location
- If the machine is active, a subscription capacity check is performed on the target location
- If the target location is at capacity, you will be prompted to deactivate a machine there or the change is blocked
Tax Rate
After selecting a location, the Tax Rate dropdown shows all tax rates assigned to that location. Select the default tax rate for this machine. This is the tax rate applied to items at the POS unless overridden.
Active Status
The "Active" checkbox controls whether this machine is operational:
- Checked = machine is active and can process transactions
- Unchecked = machine is inactive and cannot be used
Activating a machine requires available subscription capacity. If all machine slots are in use, the machine will be created in an inactive state with a message explaining the limit.
Startup Page
The Startup Page dropdown controls what screen opens when AccuArk launches on this machine:
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Not Set | No automatic startup page — the main screen appears |
| Business Dashboard | Opens the business dashboard automatically |
| (Other options) | Additional startup pages as configured |
Hardware Details Section
This section tracks the physical hardware for asset management purposes:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer | The computer/terminal manufacturer (e.g., "HP", "Dell", "Elo Touch") |
| Model | The model number |
| Serial Number | The physical serial number of the hardware |
| Hardware Details | A multi-line text field for detailed hardware specifications |
| Software Version | The current software version installed |
| Purchase Date | When the hardware was purchased |
| Vendor | Where the hardware was purchased from |
| Purchase Price | How much the hardware cost |
| Warranty Details | Warranty information and expiration |
| Machine Status | A free-text field for notes about the machine's condition |
Auto-Detect Hardware Info
Click the "Get Machine Info" button to automatically populate the Hardware Details field with information detected from the current workstation (CPU, RAM, drives, etc.).
Note: This detects the hardware of the computer you are currently using, not the machine being configured (unless you are configuring from that same workstation).
Customer Facing Display (CFD)
This section configures an optional second screen that faces the customer:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Enable CFD | Master toggle to turn the customer display on or off |
| Screen | Select which monitor to use for the CFD display |
