Configuring Slide Text and Call-to-Action
The Text tab of the Slide Editor controls the four text elements that can appear on a slide: headline, subheading, body text, and a call-to-action (CTA) button. Each element has its own font, size, style, color, and alignment settings. This article covers all text configuration options.
Text Elements
Headline
The headline is the largest, most prominent text on the slide. It is typically used for the main message or product name. Configuration options:
- Text — The headline content. Leave blank to hide the headline.
- Font — Choose from any installed system font. The default is Segoe UI.
- Font Size — Size in points. The default is 48. For signage viewed from a distance, use 48-72 points.
- Style — Bold, Regular, Italic, or Bold Italic. The default is Bold.
- Color — The text color. The default is white (#FFFFFF).
- Alignment — Left, Center, or Right. Center is the default and works best for most signage.
Subheading
The subheading provides supporting text below the headline. It is typically used for additional details or a secondary message. Configuration options match the headline, with a default font size of 32 points and a light gray color (#CCCCCC).
Body Text
The body text area provides space for longer descriptions, terms, or details. It renders below the subheading with a default font size of 24 points and white color.
Keep body text concise on signage slides. Viewers typically see each slide for 8-15 seconds, so body text should be scannable at a glance.
Call-to-Action Button
The CTA is a styled text block that draws attention to a specific action. It renders as a colored badge with contrasting text. Configuration options:
- CTA Text — The button label (e.g., "Shop Now", "Scan QR Code", "Ask Staff"). Leave blank to hide the CTA.
- Background Color — The badge background color. The default is orange (#FF6600).
- Text Color — The text color within the badge. The default is white (#FFFFFF).
The CTA renders below the body text in the text content area.
Text Positioning
The text position setting controls where the text content block is placed on the slide. AccuArk uses a nine-point grid system:
| Left | Center | Right | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Top | top-left | top-center | top-right |
| Center | center-left | center-center | center-right |
| Bottom | bottom-left | bottom-center | bottom-right |
The default position is center-center, which places the text in the middle of the slide. For slides with a product image in the background, positioning text at the bottom or top can avoid covering the product.
Text Backdrop
When text is placed over an image or video background, it can be difficult to read. The text backdrop adds a semi-transparent background behind the text content to improve readability.
Backdrop types:
- None — No backdrop. Text renders directly over the background.
- Box — A rounded rectangle behind the text content block.
- Bar — A full-width horizontal bar behind the text.
The backdrop opacity controls how opaque the backdrop is. A value of 0.5 (50%) is a good default. Increase it for busy backgrounds; decrease it for subtle overlays.
Font Size Guidelines for Signage
The ideal font size depends on how far away viewers will be from the screen:
- Close viewing (1-3 meters): Headline 36-48pt, Subheading 24-32pt, Body 18-24pt.
- Medium distance (3-6 meters): Headline 48-72pt, Subheading 32-48pt, Body 24-32pt.
- Far viewing (6+ meters): Headline 72-96pt, Subheading 48-60pt. Avoid body text at this distance.
When in doubt, err on the side of larger text. Text that is too small to read from the intended viewing distance is wasted content.
