Adding Slide Overlays: Logo, Price Badge, and QR Code
The Overlays tab of the Slide Editor provides three overlay types that layer on top of the slide background and text: a logo image, a price badge, and a QR code. Each overlay is independent and can be positioned in different corners of the slide. This article covers how to configure each overlay.
Logo Overlay
The logo overlay displays a company or brand logo on the slide. This is useful for maintaining brand consistency across all your signage.
Configuration
- Logo Image — Upload a logo file through the file picker. Supported formats include PNG (recommended for transparency), JPEG, and BMP.
- Position — Choose where the logo appears. Options are top-left, top-right, bottom-left, and bottom-right. The default is bottom-right.
- Size (pixels) — The display size of the logo in pixels. The default is 120 pixels. The logo is scaled proportionally to fit within this dimension.
Tips
- Use a PNG logo with a transparent background so the logo blends cleanly over any slide background.
- Position the logo in a corner that does not conflict with the text position. For example, if text is positioned at bottom-center, place the logo at top-right.
- Keep the logo size modest. A logo that is too large distracts from the slide content.
Price Badge
The price badge displays pricing information in a styled format. It supports original price, sale price, strikethrough formatting, and stock status.
Configuration
- Enable Price Badge — Check this box to show the price badge on the slide.
- Original Price — The regular price. Displayed with strikethrough formatting when a sale price is also set.
- Sale Price — The discounted price. Displayed prominently in a larger font.
- Price Source — Set to "manual" to use the prices you enter, or "live" to pull prices from the bound inventory item (requires a Live Item slide type).
- Show Stock Status — When checked, the badge includes an in-stock or out-of-stock indicator below the price.
How It Renders
When both original and sale prices are set, the badge shows the original price with a strikethrough line and the sale price in larger, highlighted text. This creates a visual comparison that emphasizes the discount.
When only the original price is set, it displays as a standard price label without strikethrough.
When using live pricing with a Live Item slide, the prices update automatically from the inventory database each time the slide renders.
QR Code
The QR code overlay generates a scannable QR code on the slide using the ZXing library. Customers can scan it with their phone to open a URL.
Configuration
- QR URL — The URL encoded in the QR code. This can be a product page, promotion landing page, or any web address.
- QR Label — Optional text displayed below the QR code (e.g., "Scan for Details" or "Order Online").
- Position — Where the QR code appears: top-left, top-right, bottom-left, or bottom-right. The default is bottom-right.
- Size (pixels) — The QR code dimension in pixels. The default is 200 pixels. Larger sizes are easier to scan from a distance.
Tips
- Test the QR code by scanning it with your phone before deploying the slide. Verify the URL opens correctly.
- Use a QR size of at least 200 pixels for screens viewed from more than 2 meters away.
- Keep the URL as short as possible. Shorter URLs generate simpler QR codes that are easier to scan.
- Always include a label so viewers know what they will get when they scan the code.
Overlay Layering Order
Overlays render in a specific order on top of the slide:
- Background — The bottom layer (color, gradient, image, video, or stream).
- Background Overlay — The semi-transparent dark layer (if opacity is set).
- Text Content — Headline, subheading, body, and CTA in their positioned area.
- Logo — Rendered on top in its designated corner.
- Price Badge — Rendered in the overlay area.
- QR Code — Rendered last, on top of everything else in its designated corner.
If you place a logo and QR code in the same corner, the QR code will overlap the logo. Choose different positions for each overlay to avoid overlap.
