Slideshow Permissions and Role Recommendations

Slideshow Permissions and Role Recommendations

AccuArk's slideshow system uses five granular permissions to control access to different features. This article lists each permission, explains what it controls, and provides recommended role assignments.

Permission Reference

MKT_VIEW_SLIDESHOW (Permission ID 265)

This is the base permission required to open the Slideshow Manager. Without it, users cannot access any slideshow features.

Controls:

  • Access to the Slideshow Manager module.
  • Viewing slides, playlists, and schedules in the grids.
  • Viewing the Dashboard tab with statistics.

Does not allow: Creating, editing, or deleting any content.

MKT_MANAGE_SLIDES (Permission ID 266)

Controls the ability to create and modify slide and playlist content.

Controls:

  • New Slide, Edit Slide, Delete Slide, Clone Slide buttons.
  • Enable/Disable slide toggle.
  • New Playlist, Edit Playlist, Delete Playlist buttons.
  • Add Slide, Remove Slide, Move Up, Move Down buttons in playlists.
  • Quick New Slide and Quick New Playlist on the Dashboard.

MKT_MANAGE_SCHEDULES (Permission ID 267)

Controls the ability to create and modify schedules.

Controls:

  • New Schedule, Edit Schedule, Delete Schedule buttons.

This permission is separate from MKT_MANAGE_SLIDES so you can give content creators the ability to design slides and playlists without letting them change when content plays.

MKT_LAUNCH_PLAYER (Permission ID 268)

Controls the ability to start the slideshow player.

Controls:

  • Launch Slideshow button visibility and functionality.
  • Ctrl+L keyboard shortcut.
  • Quick Launch button on the Dashboard.

MKT_EMERGENCY_OVERRIDE (Permission ID 269)

Controls the ability to activate and deactivate emergency overrides.

Controls:

  • Emergency Override button visibility on the Dashboard.
  • Access to the Emergency Override dialog.
  • Activate and Deactivate All functions.

This is the most sensitive slideshow permission because it immediately affects all active players.

Recommended Role Assignments

PermissionSuper AdminLocation AdminManagerEmployee
MKT_VIEW_SLIDESHOWYesYesYesOptional
MKT_MANAGE_SLIDESYesYesYesNo
MKT_MANAGE_SCHEDULESYesYesNoNo
MKT_LAUNCH_PLAYERYesYesYesOptional
MKT_EMERGENCY_OVERRIDEYesYesNoNo

Rationale

  • Super Admins and Location Admins get all permissions for full control over digital signage.
  • Managers can create and manage content and launch the player, but cannot change schedules or activate emergency overrides. This lets managers handle day-to-day content updates without affecting the scheduling strategy.
  • Employees typically only need view access (if any). Optionally give them MKT_LAUNCH_PLAYER if they are responsible for starting the signage each morning.

How to Assign Permissions

Permissions are assigned through role management:

  1. Go to Employees > Manage Roles.
  2. Select the role you want to configure.
  3. Find the Marketing section in the permissions list.
  4. Check or uncheck the slideshow permissions.
  5. Save the role.

Changes take effect the next time the user logs in or the next time the permission cache refreshes.
