FAQ: What is a safe drop and when should I do one?

What is a safe drop and when should I do one?

A safe drop is the process of removing excess cash from the register and placing it in a secure location (like a safe or vault).

When to do it:

  • When your drawer has more cash than comfortable (reduces risk of loss)
  • At regular intervals during busy shifts (e.g., every 2 hours)
  • When instructed by your manager
  • Before shift change

How to do it:

  1. Count the cash you want to remove
  2. Go to Action Menu → Safe Drop
  3. Enter the amount
  4. Add an optional note
  5. Click Submit
  6. Place the cash in the safe

The safe drop is recorded in the system and subtracted from your expected cash at check-out. You need the Safe Drop permission to perform this action.
