How to Print and Email Receipts
Printing a Receipt
Standard POS:
- Click the Print button (or press Ctrl+P or F5)
- The receipt is sent to the configured printer
Compact POS:
- Click the Print button in the action grid
- The receipt prints
Receipt Format Options
The receipt format depends on your Machine Settings:

| Receipt (Thermal) | Compact format for thermal receipt printers (2.75" or 4" width) |
| Full Page | Standard paper size for regular printers |
Your administrator sets the default format in Machine Settings → POS Settings → Printing & Receipts → Default Print Format.
Receipt Content
A typical receipt includes:
- Store name and address (from company settings)
- Invoice/transaction number
- Date and time
- Cashier name
- Itemized list (name, quantity, price, total)
- Discounts applied
- Tax summary
- Grand total
- Payment method and amount tendered
- Change given (for cash payments)
- Barcode (for easy invoice lookup later)
- Sales policy text (if configured)
Customizing Receipt Appearance
In Machine Settings → POS Settings → Printing & Receipts, you can configure:

| Receipt Line Character | The character used for separator lines (e.g., -, =, *) |
| Characters Per Line | Receipt width: 36 (narrow thermal), 56 (wide thermal), or 80 (full-width) |
| Receipt Font Size | The size of the printed text (smaller = more fits on receipt) |
| Barcode Type | The barcode format printed on the receipt (UPC-A, Code128, etc.) |
Emailing a Receipt
Standard POS:
- Click the Email button
- If a customer is attached and has an email address, the system sends the receipt automatically
- If no email is on file, a dialog prompts you to enter an email address
Compact POS:
- Click the Email button in the action grid
- Same process as above
Automatic Email Prompt
After completing a payment, the system may automatically ask:
- "Would you like to email the receipt?"
- This only appears if a customer is attached and has an email address on file
- Click Yes to send, or No to skip
Reprinting a Receipt
To reprint a receipt from a previous sale:
- Use Invoice Search to find the original sale
- Load the invoice
- Click Print
- The receipt reprints with the same information
Tips
- Make sure your email settings are configured at the location level (SMTP server, sender address, etc.)
- Thermal receipt printers typically use special receipt paper — check your paper supply regularly
- The barcode printed on the receipt can be scanned later to quickly look up the transaction
