Printing Labels from Customer and Inventory Records
Instead of typing label data manually, you can load it directly from AccuArk's customer and inventory records. This saves time, reduces errors, and ensures that the information on your labels matches what is stored in the system.
From Customer Records (Address Labels)
When the Label Maker is opened from a customer record or with a customer context, it automatically populates the Address mode fields with the customer's stored information:
- Name — the customer's full name from their record
- Company — the company name associated with the customer
- Address — the customer's street address
- City / State / Zip — the customer's city, state, and postal code
This is the fastest way to create shipping or mailing labels for a specific customer. Rather than looking up the address and typing it in, the fields are ready to print as soon as the Label Maker opens.
How to Open with Customer Context
From a customer record or an invoice that is linked to a customer, the Label Maker will detect the associated customer and pre-fill the To (recipient) fields. The From (sender) fields remain available for you to enter your own business address or leave blank.
Practical Workflow
- Open the customer record or invoice for the customer you want to mail.
- Launch the Label Maker via Tools > Label Maker.
- Verify that the Address mode fields are populated with the correct customer address.
- Select the appropriate label stock preset (such as Avery 5163/8163 for shipping labels).
- Enter your sender address in the From fields if needed.
- Set the quantity and print.
From Inventory Items (Product Labels)
When the Label Maker is opened with an inventory item context, the Product mode fields are auto-populated with the item's stored data:
- Product Name — the item's display name from inventory
- SKU — the item's stock-keeping unit code
- Barcode Value — the item's barcode field value
- Price — the item's regular retail price
The barcode is encoded using CODE_128 format, which supports both numeric and alphanumeric barcode values and is widely compatible with retail and warehouse barcode scanners.
Practical Workflow
- Navigate to the inventory item you want to label.
- Launch the Label Maker via Tools > Label Maker.
- Verify that the Product mode fields show the correct item information.
- Use the feature toggles to control what appears on the label.
- Select the appropriate label stock preset.
- Set the quantity and print.
Feature Toggles for Product Labels
Three checkboxes give you precise control over what appears on each product label:
- Show Barcode — when checked, the CODE_128 barcode image is printed on the label. Uncheck this if the label is for display only and does not need to be scanned.
- Show Price — when checked, the regular retail price is printed on the label. Uncheck this for warehouse labels where price is not relevant, or when prices change frequently and you prefer not to print them.
- Show SKU — when checked, the SKU text is printed on the label. This is useful for warehouse and stockroom labels where staff identify items by SKU.
You can use any combination of these toggles. For example:
- Retail shelf label: Show Barcode on, Show Price on, Show SKU off — customers see the price and cashiers scan the barcode
- Warehouse bin label: Show Barcode on, Show Price off, Show SKU on — pickers use SKU and barcode to locate and verify items
- Display-only label: Show Barcode off, Show Price on, Show SKU off — a simple price tag
Batch Quantity
The Quantity field lets you specify how many copies of the same label to print. Enter the desired number before printing and AccuArk fills the label grid on each printed page with that many copies of the label.
For example, if you are using the Avery 5160/8160 preset (30 labels per sheet) and enter a quantity of 60, AccuArk will print two full sheets of identical labels.
This is especially useful for:
- Product relabeling — when you need many copies of the same product label for a shelf reset or new shipment
- Bulk mailings — when sending the same return address label in quantity
- Asset tagging — when labeling multiple identical items
Font Settings
Three separate font size controls let you fine-tune the appearance of your labels:
- Title Font Size (default 10 pt) — controls the size of the product name or address header text. Increase this for labels where the name needs to stand out, or decrease it if the name is long and needs to fit on a small label.
- Body Font Size (default 8 pt) — controls the size of detail text such as the address lines, description, or SKU. This should generally be smaller than the title but still readable.
- Barcode Font Size (default 8 pt) — controls the size of the human-readable barcode value text printed below the barcode image. This is the numeric or alphanumeric text, not the barcode bars themselves.
Adjust these values based on your label size and the amount of content. Smaller labels like Avery 5167/8167 (0.5 inch tall) may need reduced font sizes to fit all content, while larger labels like Avery 5164/8164 (3.333 inches tall) can use larger fonts for better readability.
Tips
- For high-volume product relabeling, load items one at a time and use batch quantity to print the needed number of labels for each item before moving to the next.
- For customer mailings, select your preferred Avery stock preset first, then load each customer as needed. The preset stays selected as you switch between customers.
- Keep barcode values consistent between AccuArk inventory records and your physical scanning workflow. The barcode printed by the Label Maker will only scan correctly if scanners are configured to read CODE_128 format.
- If a customer's address has changed, update it in the customer record first, then open the Label Maker to ensure the label reflects the current address.
- Use the print preview to verify label content and layout before committing to label stock, especially when printing large quantities.
