Testing Your Customer Display
The customer display test verifies the display is reachable and then shows a test message on it.
How to Run the Test
- Open Program → Machine Configuration
- Go to the Payments & Accounts tab → Hardware Configuration section
- Make sure your customer display type is configured (Secondary Monitor or USB Pole Display)
- Click the Test Display button
Step 1: Connectivity Check
| Display Type | What Is Checked |
|---|---|
| Secondary Monitor | Verifies the configured monitor index is valid — the system checks how many monitors are connected and confirms your chosen monitor exists (index 0 = primary, 1 = second monitor, etc.) |
| USB Pole Display | The configured COM port exists and can be opened at the configured baud rate |
Step 2: Display Test Output
If connectivity passes, AccuArk sends a test message to the display:
| Display Type | What Happens |
|---|---|
| Secondary Monitor | A test message reading "== DISPLAY TEST ==" appears on the customer-facing screen for 3 seconds, then the display returns to its normal idle mode (welcome text or slideshow) |
| USB Pole Display | The text "== DISPLAY TEST ==" is written to the first row and a timestamp to the second row. The message stays for 3 seconds, then the display is cleared |
Interpreting the Results
- Both steps green (PASS) — the display is connected and showing content correctly
- Step 1 fails (Secondary Monitor) — the monitor index is invalid. Check that the second monitor is connected, detected by Windows, and that you selected the correct monitor number in settings.
- Step 1 fails (Pole Display) — the COM port cannot be opened. Check the USB cable and that the correct COM port is selected.
- Step 2 skipped (Secondary Monitor) — the Customer Display Service is not initialized. This typically means AccuArk was not started with the display service active. Restart AccuArk to activate it.
